Are these books really free? No strings attached?

Yep. You just need a free Amazon.com account. Your credit card will not be charged and you will never have to pay for the book.

Hey! One of the books you linked to wasn’t free! What gives?

Every book is 100% free when we link to it. That can change days or even hours after we link to it. Or maybe we just screw up. We’re human, and it happens. But before you click the “Buy” button on Amazon, make sure that what you’re getting is free (and not just free for Amazon Prime members).

We also occasionally highlight books that are 99¢ or $1.99, but we clearly state that; we don’t pretend that they’re free.

Luckily, if you accidentally paid for a book that you didn’t want to pay for, Amazon makes it easy to return the book and get your money back (as long as you ask for the refund within 7 days of the purchase date). You can find out more about that and how to get the refund over on Amazon’s Kindle Return Policy page.

I don’t have a Kindle. Can I still read these books somehow?

Yep! The great think about Kindle books is that they can be read on pretty much any device. This includes:

How do I get my book included on fkb.me?

First, your book has to be 100% free with no strings attached. Being a free book just for Amazon Prime members does not cut it.

Second, your book has to fit into one of the fkb.me channels (categories). Note that our Fiction channel currently only includes books with high numbers (usually 13 to 20) of 4-5 star ratings. But if you’re an avid fkb.me reader (and if you’ve liked fkb.me on Facebook), we’ll include your fiction novel at the bottom and say something like, “This book doesn’t have too many reviews yet but is by an fkb.me fan.”

Third, let me know in advance the date that your book will be free and the Amazon URL of your book. Use the form on the Contact page.

Fourth, I have the right to not include your book on fkb.me for any reason of my own. I never publish erotica.

Do you make money? If the books are free, how do you make money?

Each link to an Amazon book here is an Amazon Associates link, or an affiliate link. When you click through and download a free book, we get no money. But when you click through and then buy something on Amazon within 24 hours, we get a small (usually 4-7%) commission. This costs you nothing extra and affects your shopping experience in no way.

This is how we can afford to offer this daily service for free, so thanks for shopping.

Which Kindles do these free books work on?

All of them. This includes the early generations of Kindles, Kindle Keyboard, Kindle (Kindle 4), Kindle Touch, and Kindle Fire.

Some books might have more advanced features and formatting that can only be read on the Kindle Fire, but all of the books we list on fkb.me should work to some extent on any Kindle.

Which Kindle should I buy?

Great question. I’ve had all of them and love the regular Kindle for plain reading. I love the Kindle Fire for doing other stuff, too (I use it a ton for reading PDF ebooks).

I personally don’t like the Kindle Touch as much (I kept accidentally turning the pages when readjusting my hands), but the Kindle Keyboard is pretty awesome if you want 3G and the keyboard.

I’ve written a whole article comparing the various Kindles here.
